Kail Timusk is a sculptor and installation artist who graduated in 2026 from the Estonian Academy of Arts in sculpture and installation, and has studied photography at the Tartu Art College Pallas. His work focuses on probing sleep, wakefulness and the state between them, seeking experiences that fade, repeat, barely register or remain on the periphery of attention. Memory and disappearance are not themes in his works in a narrative sense, but states that manifest in space, material and sound. Space in his practice is not a backdrop but a central participant – the environment and the material itself give birth to the works, to which are added the natural and amplified sounds of the space itself or of objects. He is interested in sound as an atmosphere on the borderlands of ambient and noise music, where the sonic material does not dominate but seeps into the space. Installation is the centre of his practice, but a significant part of his work also takes place as performative interventions in public space. In his works he probes the possibility of a shared space and asks whether it exists at all. Timusk has participated in exhibitions in Estonia and internationally, including in Reykjavík, Prague and Orońsko. Among his most important exhibitions are "The Shape of Slowness" at SÍM gallery in Reykjavík (2025), "Wa. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
