Eesti Kunsti Oksjonid; NOBA; Osta Noort Kunsti
Marit Loitmets is a painter interested in what happens to memories once no one personally carries them anymore. Her work draws on family archives, photo albums, inherited objects and oral stories, exploring the connections between memory, identity and belonging. Moving between the borderlands of photorealism and abstraction, she creates works in which personal and collective layers of memory intertwine through colour, pattern and fragmentary images. In her works, nostalgia does not signify a longing for the past, but an attentive gaze at what is already becoming fragile and fading. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
