trained at University of Tartu
Mirjam Hinn (b. 1990) has completed an MA in painting at the University of Tartu (2018) and graduated from the Tartu Art College (2014). She began her art studies in 2010 at the Tartu Art School. She has held several solo exhibitions, the most recent of which, "Hõljuvad perspektiivid" (2022), was in Montesarchio, Italy; earlier ones were mainly in her home town of Tartu, for example "Tardunud helid" at the Tartu Art House (2018), "Kõrgepinge" at the Tartu Art Museum (2019) and "Tuhandesilmne saar" at the Tartu Art House (2021). She began actively participating in joint exhibitions in 2011, first in Estonia, then also in Finland, Lithuania, Italy and Germany. In the work of this painter, characterised by a dynamic and abstract visual language, a recognisable colour palette has emerged, along with clean fields of colour contrasted with surfaces winding with brushstrokes. Bright and at times unearthly artificial tones, which seem to glow, have become the defining accent of the works. Hinn has often, in her exhibitions, combined the medium of painting with light installation and sound art, creating solo exhibitions that encompass the whole exhibition hall and different senses. Her earlier work has focused mainly on the phenomena of sound and light and their personal translation into the language of colour and form.
