Mart Trummal was born in 1953 in Tartu. He graduated from the University of Tartu in theoretical physics in 1976. He began painting in 2017, and since that year has taken part in five annual exhibitions of Tartu artists and fourteen group exhibitions of the Konrad Mägi Studio. The exhibition "Kaks vaadet" ["Two Views"] together with Külli Trummal at the Betti Alver Museum in Jõgeva in 2018. Solo exhibition "Alasti portreed" ["Naked Portraits"] at Promenaadiviis Gallery in Tartu in 2019. Since 2019 he has also worked with charcoal and pencil drawings. Portraits of thirteen figures of Estonian culture were used as illustrations for Hando Runnel's poetry collection "Aadamal oli seitse poega", Ilmamaa 2020. Two commissioned portraits in public space, Estonian University of Life Sciences 2021, Estonian Academy of Sciences 2022. Self-taught. As a child he received a year's worth of guidance from Silvia Jõgever and Laine Pukk, and from 2017 onward from the Konrad Mägi Studio, from Aapo Pukk and Tiit Pääsuke.
