Alisa Vasina was born in Tartu in 1992. Vasina acquired her basic art education between 2002 and 2007 at the Tartu Children's Art School. She obtained her vocational secondary education between 2008 and 2012 at the Tartu Art School, specialising in decorator-stylist. Within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci programme, she received further training as an exchange student at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art School in 2011. Vasina obtained her professional higher education at the Tartu Art College, in the painting department, design track, between 2012 and 2016. This year the school bears the name Pallas University of Applied Sciences [Kõrgem Kunstikool Pallas]. Since 2019 Alisa Vasina has been a member of the Tartu Artists' Union. Alisa Vasina expresses her thoughts through animal-based characters that relate to the theme of time and carry various symbols within them. The artist cultivates the style of the populist art movement known as Lowbrow or Pop-Surrealism. The artist is inspired by this style's decorativeness and sense of humour – which is sometimes pleasant, sometimes unpleasant, and at times sarcastic. The young painter has always been interested in fashion, which is why she has combined these two worlds and, in addition to paintings, also creates fashion items with a distinctive style. The artist's aim is to bring colourful joy and strength into people's lives through her colourful imag. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
