Anne Rudanovski is an Estonian sculptor and art lecturer who received her education at the Estonian Academy of Arts in 1984–1990. Her work is characterised by an engagement with paper, a man-made material, as a symbol of culture. In 2019, she went on a six-month round-the-world trip to document and study endangered handmade paper-making traditions in traditional “paper countries” such as China, Japan and Korea. In recent years, Anne Rudanovski has created a series of exhibitions that explore and raise questions about the meaning of the book format. The first exhibition, “Valued and Abandoned Books I. Repository”, which focused on the fate of reference works, took place in 2017 at the Kondas Centre. It was followed by “HH II. The Disappearance of Time” (2018), “HH III. The Need to Forget” (2018) and “HH IV. Reading I–II” (2021). Her thoughtful treatment of materials and mastery stem from (are connected to) Eastern modes of thought. She has been professor at the sculpture department of the Pallas University of Applied Sciences since 2014. Founder of the Paper Museum in 2010. Holder of a Guinness World Record: together with her students she created the world's largest mosaic made of used batteries, 2017. Founder of the Estonian Origami Centre SATORI, 2020.
