Juhan Soomets (1975) is known above all as the author of the sound space "Kunstnike tuba" ["Artists' Room"], which has been exhibited in Tallinn, Viljandi and Riga and which brought the author the first Baltic Young Artist Prize. In his work Juhan experiments with interactivity, participatory art and user interfaces, combining low-tech elements with contemporary practices in his works. Having relinquished the position of author, the work of art comes into being either through the participation of the visitor at an exhibition, or is created from beginning to end by a generative machine (the Mandala graphic series). He graduated with an MA from the New Media Department of the Estonian Academy of Arts (2016) and with a BA as an art teacher from Tallinn University (2004). (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
