Voldemar PEIL (1907, Narva – 1999) was an Estonian theatre artist who, among other things, also practised realistic easel painting (flower and landscape pictures as well as portraits). As a stage designer he designed about three hundred productions. His style is mainly of a genre character. Alongside painted scenery, Peil also made effective use of projection and lighting. He received his art education in the painting speciality at the Pallas Art School under Jaan Vahtra, Voldemar Mellik, Villem Ormisson and Ado Vabbe, graduating from the art school with the qualification of drawing teacher.
