Virge Jõekalda (1963) uses techniques such as drypoint and etching, which connect her to the traditions of printmaking, but the isolation of a meaningful fragment and its processing into an image, a forceful line and a sensitive treatment of the coloured surface reveal a path uniquely her own. Jõekalda graduated from ERKI in printmaking (1988) and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Estonia and abroad. Her works can be found in many (private) collections and she has received several accolades. Jõekalda is a member of the Estonian Association of Free Graphic Artists and the Estonian Artists' Association. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
