1970–
NOBA
Mari Haavel (b. 1970) is a textile artist and textile designer who lives and works in Tallinn. She has graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts' textile programme with a BA (1996). Mari Haavel has worked as a gallerist and also as a home textile designer at various Estonian companies dealing with textiles, and she continues to work in this field today. Alongside this, Mari has continuously pursued her own work as well – she has taken part and continues to take part in various textile exhibitions, including international ones, and in solo exhibitions. Her favourite techniques are silk-screen printing and tapestry. She has also been drawn to designing and making various textile products, which have today become Semimari Tekstiilid – a small studio where interior textiles and accessories are made in small editions, mostly by hand, using silk-screen printing technique, and largely from materials that are production leftovers from Estonian manufacturers.
