1964– · Estonian artist (born 1964)
Eesti Kunsti Oksjonid; Eesti Kunstimuuseum; Haus Galerii; Hiiumaa Muuseumid; NOBA
trained at Estonian Academy of Arts
Valev Sein (1964) creates works ranging from miniatures to monumental pieces. He experiments and plays with materials – by adding glass, wood, textile, pieces of mirror etc. to conventional painting media, he creates assemblages that connect with surrealism. The artist has executed stained-glass windows as commissioned works both for private homes and for churches. Sein graduated from ERKI in the field of painting and monumental art (1990), has taken part in numerous exhibitions both in Estonia and internationally, and was also one of the driving forces behind the Nelja Nurga gallery, which operated for a long time on Hiiumaa. He is a member of the Estonian Painters' Association and the Estonian Artists' Association. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
