Taavi Oolberg came to painting relatively late in life, after graduating from the Tartu Art College Pallas. Before that he worked mainly as a graphic designer, illustrator and caricaturist. The greatest influence on the development of his painting has been exerted by the teachers of the Pallas era, whose work he has often referenced in his own. Particularly noticeable are his bows to Peeter Allik and Imat Suuman. Oolberg likes to organise his work into series. He also creates editioned painting prints, where each subsequent work differs slightly from the previous one, together forming what seems like an animated narrative flow. The artist considers collaboration important. He is happy to take part in joint projects and exhibitions with other creators, and he also tries to involve artist friends in his solo exhibitions. For him, sharing creative experiences and a jointly created environment makes life much more joyful and inspiring. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
