Sten Saarits (b. 1987 in Tallinn) is an installation artist whose creative work primarily investigates the individual's relationship with materiality and self-positioning in space and in the chain of events. Sten uses various media to convey the effect of his works to the viewer. The artist mainly presents works in which he uses sound as a material to create various forms that can only be perceived acoustically. Sten Saarits has studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and at the Estonian Academy of Arts. The artist has also furthered his education through numerous international workshops and practical training. Sten Saarits has won second place (2012) and the grand prix (2013) at the Young Sculptor Award exhibition. He has also received the Eduard Wiiralt scholarship. Sten has taken part in exhibitions and group projects in Estonia, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, France and Lithuania. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
