Raivo Kelomees (b. 1960) is an artist and art historian. He has studied psychology at the University of Tartu and art history and design at the Estonian Academy of Arts. He is a senior researcher at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Estonian Academy of Arts and a professor at the Pallas University of Applied Sciences. Kelomees is the author of the book "Sürrealism" (Kirjastus Kunst, 1993) and the article collections "Ekraan kui membraan" (Proceedings of the Tartu Art College, 2007) and "Sotsiaalsed mängud kunstiruumis" (EKA, 2013). His doctoral thesis is "Postmateriaalsus kunstis. Indeterministlikud kunstipraktikad ja mittemateriaalne kunst" (Dissertationes Academiae Artium Estoniae 3, 2009). Together with the British scholar Chris Hales he edited the collection of articles "Constructing Narrative in Interactive Documentaries" (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2014). In collaboration with Varvara Guljajeva and Oliver Laas, he edited the collection of articles "The Meaning of Creativity in Age of AI" (EKA Press, 2022). Kelomees has been exhibiting since 1980. He has preferred electronic and digital art, but painting has also been among his media. Most recently he took part in the exhibition "Sürrealism 100.
