Leena Kuutma

1974–
NOBA; Uue Kunsti Muuseum

Leena Kuutma's (1974) creative style is often hybrid and mainly connected with combining the spatial experience characteristic of sculpture with the material knowledge characteristic of ceramics. She has previously used drawing techniques in ceramics and is also drawn to themes of public space and monumental art. Kuutma graduated from the sculpture department of the Estonian Academy of Arts (1996), has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Estonia and abroad, and since 1994 has taken part in more than fifty workshops, symposia and competitions, working with wood, stone, concrete, snow and ice. Her works are held in many private and museum collections and in public space in Estonia, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Denmark, Latvia and Lithuania. Kuutma is a member of the Estonian Ceramists' Union, the Estonian Sculptors' Association and the Estonian Artists' Association. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
