Haus Galerii; NOBA; Osta Noort Kunsti
Katariin Mudist (b. 1994) is an interdisciplinary artist who has graduated from the Department of Contemporary Art of the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2020/21 she studied at KASK in Ghent, in 2018 she graduated from the Tartu Art College's media and advertising design programme, and furthered her studies at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Katariin mostly works with sculpture, installation, graphic art and ceramics. An important place is held by a layer that abstracts society and its relation to the individual, which is often presented through a robust style, humour and easily relatable situations. For example, most recently at the exhibition "Nähtamatud Kohalolijad" ["Invisible Presences"], held at the EKA Gallery in July 2021, Katariin uncovered the nature of cleaning work and society's attitudes towards it. Currently the artist is working on a forthcoming exhibition at the Tartu Art House, which will take place in spring 2022. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
