W. Schwank studied art in St. Petersburg and Dresden under prof. Kribel. He was active from 1885 in Düsseldorf and Altenburg, later in Latvia. As an artist he painted mainly portraits and still lifes, and also worked as an art teacher. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
