Timo Kähara (b. 1981) is an Estonian artist. Although he liked to draw and paint already at an early age, his life path took him away from art for a while. After finishing upper secondary school (in 2000) he wanted to enrol in an art school, but narrowly failed to get in. Instead he studied at the Estonian Maritime Academy and, after graduating (in 2006), worked for two years as a 3rd mate on cargo ships sailing the world's seas. Eventually he realised that this was not for him after all, his eyes did not light up, art still drew him. He ended his career as a seaman and tried again to get into art school, and this time he succeeded. In 2012 he graduated from the Tartu Art College (now the Pallas University of Applied Sciences) with a degree in media and advertising design. He has been engaged in creative work since then. He has participated in several solo and group exhibitions. Since 2019 he has been a member of the Tartu Artists' Union. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
