Sandra Lääne (b. 1990) is an artist who works mainly in the collage technique, interweaving acrylic painting, marker drawing, photography and newspaper clippings. She has completed her bachelor's studies at the Painting Department of the University of Tartu (2013) and obtained a master's degree in art education at the Estonian Academy of Arts (2016). Collaboration and chance play an important role in her work. Her children Osvald (b. 2022) and Vilma (b. 2023) often become co-authors of the works, their drawings and brushstrokes becoming the starting point of the works or shaping their further course. Lääne's collages are born as a layered process that develops over time, in which different materials, spontaneous traces and conscious interventions intertwine into a whole. Her works often combine abstract colour surfaces and detailed black-and-white drawings, creating a visual space where childlike freedom and playfulness meet the artist's conscious sense of composition. Lääne has previously participated in exhibitions in Estonia, Finland and England. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
