Robert Meister

1921–1982
Viljandi Muuseum

Last places of residence: Karksi and Karksi-Nuia (the building of the Karksi parsonage), later Viljandi. In 1946-47 he became acquainted with Elmar Kits (1913-1972) and Evald Okas (1915-2011), who often came to visit Robert in Karksi for the summer (an influence on his taking up art). As a painter R. Meister was mainly self-taught. His favourite genres are landscape and flower painting. According to the recollections of his daughter, Mari Meister, her father painted throughout his entire life. He was also a passionate fisherman. (machine translation of the holder's Estonian text, unedited)
