Parents Priidu and Maria Hõisp. Childhood home at the Saare farm, Vanamõisa village, Pihtla parish. In 1915/16, as a gymnasium student evacuated to Danilov, he led the construction of the famous skating rink. In the spring/winter of 1920, he was put on trial for helping with smuggling near Lake Peipsi and sentenced to forced labour, but was released from punishment for bravery shown in the War of Independence and transferred to the reserve. ["Sakala" 21.04.1920.] At the beginning of World War II, he left for Argentina together with his wife and small daughter. He died there as a result of kidney disease.
