Katrin Pere (b. 1952) studied textile art at what was then ERKI (now EKA). After graduating (1977, cum laude), she has taken part in curated group exhibitions in Estonia, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Hungary, Germany, the USA, the UK, Japan, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, France and Italy. She works mainly with fibre materials in original technique, and has also used glass, metal, paper, water, earth, and materials derived from living nature. The artist's works can be found in the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design, the National Library, in public interiors and in private collections around the world. Pere has also had several solo exhibitions at the Tallinn Art Hall Gallery, in the Winter Garden of the National Opera Estonia, and at the National Library. She has been awarded the City of Stuttgart Prize (1988), the Textile Artist of the Year Award (1996, 1998, 2004, 2013) and the Kristjan Raud Art Prize of the Year (1999).
