H. Lukk studied art probably in 1912-1915 in Helsinki, at the school of the Finnish Art Society. He practised Art Nouveau and Neo-Impressionist art (influence of A. Finch). Voldemar Vaga called H. Lukk the only pure Neo-Impressionist in Estonian art. He participated in the survey exhibition of Estonian art in 1919, attracting attention.
