Eesti Ajaloomuuseum
He began as a merchant in Warsaw. He later studied copper engraving in London, developing his own stipple-engraving technique. Having returned to Warsaw, he engraved portraits of Polish noblemen and, commissioned by King Stanisław August Poniatowski. In 1793 he travelled to Vienna to further his training, worked in Vienna, later in Munich, Leipzig and elsewhere. He engraved many works after paintings by old masters and contemporary artists.
