In 1942 he began studying at the Higher Courses of Fine Art in Tartu. His teachers were A. Vabbe, A. Vardi, E. Kits, J. Võerahansu. Furthered his studies at the KKKK. In 1949 he worked as an artist at the Pärnu Linakombinaat. From 1974-83 he worked as an artist at the Pärnu EPT. Began exhibiting in 1947. In 1991 received the Pärnu City Government's annual prize for fine art. Cultivated oil painting and watercolour. Late abstract works in the so-called akvamis technique.
